Shenandoah: Daughter of the Stars is a shoot ’em up game developed by Exceed Productions in 1993/1994. It was planned to be released for Commodore Amiga 500 and PC MS-DOS, featuring 16 different ships, more than 30 upgradable weapons, tons of enemies, raytraced graphics, animated cutscenes and a multiplayer mode. TDS Productions was asked to port the Amiga version to the PC.
However, this game was a spare-time project and the developers couldn’t handle it within a reasonable time. So, there’s only a very early preview demo. The game has been inspired by Xenon II and the story revolves around the “Shenandoah” that can create new worlds.
Since late 2006, volunteers attempt to recreate and complete this game. One of them is Timo Weirich, who used to maintain the former PC Games That Weren’t website.
Thanks to Krister Karlsson, wo worked on the original Amiga version, and Timo Weirich for providing additional information.
