Legend of the Seven Paladins 3D (七俠五義3D), also known as Rock ‘n Shaolin, is a first-person shooter done by Accend Inc in 1994. It’s one of the most unknown games based on Ken Silverman’s Build engine.
3D Realms, the company behind the Build engine, had once a deal with the Chinese company Accend to produce a game. But the contract got never signed, the project was cancelled due to communication problems.
However, they were working on the game anyway and published a playable demo. They even finished the full game, but it’s not clear if they ever released it. It’s been told that some boxed copies appeared in Taiwan.
At least, Accend licensed Legend of the Seven Paladins 3D to the Koreans, which adjusted some graphics and put the story into a Korean historical setting. This makes it the first commercially released game using the Build engine.
