StarCraft is a real-time strategy game done by Blizzard Entertainment in 1998. In a distant part of the milky way, three species fight for dominance: the Terrans, the Zerk and the Protoss.
Blizzard started development in 1995, shorty after the Warcraft II release. They originally intended to reuse the Warcraft II engine and got it to a nearly complete state when they presented it at E3 in 1996. However, the weak response (most called it “Warcraft in space”) made them to start over and redesign the whole project.
